Gangnam Style

So, this is the K-pop song that "makes it" into the US market.

Wanna read more about K-pop?  Check out this article.  It's got some other trendy K-pop tunes linked in it, too.

Chinese Hot Pot and Street Food

Beijing, China
January 2012

Had some Chinese hot pot with some fellow travelers, followed by a walk around a nearby lake.

The broth:  The white broth is mild.  The red broth is spicy.

The additions: meat and veggies.

The hot pot with the added meat and veggies steaming deliciously.

The gate of the lake's market promenade.

Along the promenade.

Cotton candy

Roasted chestnuts

Candied fruit

Fish or maybe scorpions.  I can't remember now.
View of the bell towers.

Lights along the froken lake.

Lotus Lantern Festival: The Large Lantern Pics

This final installation of the Lotus Lantern Festival features pics of the large lanterns from the parade.  There are many, but I've tried to sift and post the best.  Some of the floats were so large, I was only to capture portions of them, but I hope that they are enjoyable just the same.

This one had a TV screen that played a slide show feature faces of children and babies.

Don't freak out.  This symbol means Buddhist shrine.
